At Harbour City Float, we are all about Salt Water Floatation Therapy! The practice of floatation therapy has been around for quite some time, you may have heard it under such names as sensory deprivation, isolation tanks or float tanks. In the 1950’s the theory of R.E.S.T (Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique) was developed, which accurately describes the relaxing method of closing off the brain’s responses to external stimuli like gravity, light, sound and room temperature. So by significantly reducing the brain’s external stimuli, the mind and body are able to focus deeply within and deliver a multitude of health benefits.

Our floatation therapy center is a home-based business located in central Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. We have a big open back yard, which has a developing garden and a lot more to come in the future. Right next to us is a large field that leads to a walking path through the forest, ending up at a couple of local coffee shops. We are also a 15-20 minute walk away from Bowen Park and the beautiful ocean!

Because we are home-based, we are lucky because the floatation experience that we offer can be quite peaceful, introspective and personal before, during and after your float. We can also facilitate some more unique and non-standard requests for floats, even after hours if you are a night person! Either way, our open concept float spa will leave you feeling relaxed, restored and at peace. Be prepared for these feelings to follow you around all day, if not your whole week, and beyond.
