COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A new wellness center in downtown Colorado Springs is helping people float their troubles away.

R.E.S.T. Float Solutions focuses on flotation therapy. People enter a float tank filled with 10 inches of water that’s heated to 94 degrees and contains 850 pounds of Epsom salt, and just float for 90 minutes.

The goal of flotation therapy is for people to relax their muscles and unwind with the hopes of reducing stress and increasing their energy.

Relaxing your mind and body are just some of the goals of R.E.S.T. Float Solutions.

“It helps with anxiety, PTSD, recovery. I like to say it’s a condensed vacation for your mind and body. It’s a really good reset and it has residual effects for a couple weeks,” owner Jason Buck said.

Buck works in the United States Special Operations Command. In 2012, he was shot five times while serving in Afghanistan. He was introduced to this flotation therapy a few years ago.

“I was working with a small group in Virginia Beach and they did this flotation therapy for people coming back from deployments,” Buck said.

Jason deals with a lot of nerve pain and sleep issues and says this therapy gave him an alternative to pain meds.

“I floated and it was one of the first times I had been without pain in 90 minutes,” he said.

Since then he has made it his mission to help others reduce their stress and anxiety through floating.

“A lot of green berets from Fort Carson, a lot of 4th ID coming in, a lot of people coming in. It really covers the complete demographic. Doctors coming in, lawyers,” he said.

Julie Myers, a physical therapy assistant, said this technique is a great way to relieve muscle aches and pains.
